Stage Management
I am in my third year of studying stage management at the University of Colorado at Boulder. I started off by learning the basics about live performance and the jobs of a stage manager before and during shows. With the Covid-19 pandemic turning life on it's head in the middle of my college career I had to adapt to the sudden change within theatre and college life. As a result I've been able to broaden the ideas and tasks of a stage manager. I'm becoming more well versed in the ways of virtual theatre via zoom and film and have developed a stronger sense of communication due to the lack of face to face interactions during this time.
Stage Crew
For the first few shows I worked on with the University of Colorado Theatre Department I worked as part of the stage crew. Almost Maine By John Cariani was the first show I did and I worked as a member of run crew. This allowed me to get my feet wet in college theatre and understand if this was truely the right path for me. The next semester I went on to be a dresser for A Broadway Christmas Carol by Kathy Feininger where I gained experience with handling costumes and props in a backstage setting. Both of these experiences gave me a lot of insight about how the back stage area functions during show which has better informed me as an assistant and production stage manager.
